Registered Social Worker
Dr. Monica Hinton, She/Her
Monica is a trauma/PTSD and eating disorders specialist with over 16 years of experience supporting individuals on their paths to recovery, growth, and reconnection with themselves. Her approach is grounded in humanism, experiential practice, and a strengths-based perspective; always beginning with where each person is, in the present moment.
She works with people navigating the effects of trauma, eating disorders, body image concerns, depression, anxiety, and addiction. For the past 14 years, she has also specialized in working with serving and retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces, as well as police, fire, and paramedic first responders. She brings a deep understanding of the unique challenges these roles can carry and offers a trauma-informed, compassionate space to explore and move forward.
Her therapeutic approach is collaborative and tailored to each individual. She draws on evidence-based modalities such as:
- CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
- MI (Motivational Interviewing)
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
- CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy)
Monica believes that recovery is possible, and that thriving is too. Clients don’t need to have everything figured out to begin. Wherever someone is in their journey, that’s where the work starts, together.
Monica is available for in-person and virtual appointments, on weekends and evenings.
